The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Southwestern Newberry County in central South Carolina...
  Northeastern Edgefield County in central South Carolina...
  Saluda County in central South Carolina...

* Until 730 PM EDT.

* At 648 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from 7 miles south of Ninety Six Historic Site to 11
  miles west of Saluda County Airport to 10 miles west of Johnston to
  near Edgefield, moving northeast at 30 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and powerlines.

* Locations impacted include...
  Edgefield, Saluda, Johnston, Saluda County Airport, Silverstreet,
  Ward, Strom Thurmond High School, Saluda Co Sheriffs Office, Good
  Hope, Harmony, Pleasant Lane, Northside Fire Station Main, Belfast
  Wildlife Management Area, Hollywood Elementary School, Emory,
  Chappells, Chappells Fire Station, Scurry Airport, Hickory Grove,
  and Vaughnville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of natures leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

FOR SOUTHWESTERN NEWBERRY...NORTHEASTERN EDGEFIELD AND SALUDA
COUNTIES...

At 714 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 6 miles east of Lake Greenwood State Park to near
Saluda to 6 miles north of Johnston to near Saluda County Airport,
moving northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and powerlines.
