* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Southern Bond County in south central Illinois...
Clinton County in south central Illinois...
Southwestern Fayette County in south central Illinois...
Northern Washington County in south central Illinois...
Southern Madison County in southwestern Illinois...
Monroe County in southwestern Illinois...
Saint Clair County in southwestern Illinois...
* WHEN...Until midnight CDT tonight.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 853 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen with locally higher
amounts.
- Thunderstorms that caused flash flooding have moved east.
Flooding has begun to recede with minor impacts lingering through
this evening. If you encounter a flooded roadway, do not attempt
to drive through it.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Belleville, Granite City, OFallon, East St. Louis, Collinsville,
Edwardsville, Fairview Heights, Cahokia, Swansea, Glen Carbon,
Shiloh, Highland, Troy, Waterloo, Columbia, Maryville, Mascoutah
and Pontoon Beach.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
