...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 AM CDT EARLY THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Southwestern Hidalgo County in deep south Texas...
  South Central Jim Hogg County in deep south Texas...
  Central Starr County in deep south Texas...

* WHEN...Until 530 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Water over
  roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 336 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This  is causing arroyo and small stream flooding.
    Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over
    the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Penitas, Sullivan City, La Joya, Viboras, Los Ebanos, La Grulla,
    Santa Catarina, La Victoria, Alto Bonito, Grulla Middle School,
    Cuevitas, Sam Fordyce Elementary School, La Joya High School,
    Jimmy Carter High School, La Joya City Hall, John F Kennedy
    Elementary School, Lorenzo De Zavala Middle School and Rio Grande
    City--roma.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
