...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 815 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive 
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central South Carolina, including the 
  following counties, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry and 
  Richland.

* WHEN...Until 815 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 623 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
    flooding. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Columbia, Irmo, Camden, Winnsboro, Dentsville, St. Andrews,
    Lake Wateree Dam, Elgin, Killian, Lake Carolina, Villages at
    Sandhill, Fairfield County Airport, Columbia International
    University, Harbison State Forest, Longtown, Ballentine,
    Jenkinsville, Lugoff and Blythewood.
  - This includes the following highways...
    Interstate 26 between mile markers 88 and 103.
    Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 86 and
    100.
    Interstate 77 between mile markers 19 and 36.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive through a 
flooded roadway or around barricades. Turn around, dont drown.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
